"Easy chavi, easy"
The mans calm voice only caused the filly to bolt to the other side, then up, then to the opposite side. She didnt try to get loose - just flutter like a baloon in the wind. Her eyes alert and friendly but you could almost see everything that the filly picked up and reacted to in her eyes. Everything around her could be scary, everything could eat her, but as quickly as it had scared her she was calm again - for a nano second.
"Youre like the squirrel in Over the hedge...you know that...silly little nut..." the man said softly when the filly for a moment nuzzled his cheek. Then her head flew up as a tiny little sparrow flew over them and she snorted.
"Scary arent they?" The filly reccived a gentle stroke on her neck. If she only learned to focus she would be a good horse. He had seen that in her eyes. Many others had just passed her by. He had heard them saying crazy. When he had checked with the exerciseriders they had said the same and that she was all over the place - however - she was quick, she reacted fast, she was somewhat easy to rate. There was not so much trouble at the gates at least not to get out of them. To go into the gates was another matter - didnt they know that startinggates ate little horses!
Jace was positive however. He was just going to give her time, time, love and patience. Perhaps she wouldnt start as a two year old but that didnt matter. It was better to make the filly calm and confident. There would be time for her to show her talent!
